Plan Goodwill Ambassador, English 50m Freestyle swimmer Mark Foster.
When the 3,100 media personnel descend on Melbourne for the Games, among their number will be nine talented young people from across the Commonwealth.
Three reporters each from Ghana, India and Pakistan will act as roving journalists during the Games, gathering television and print stories for the Goodwill Partner, Plan.
They will produce broadcast-quality television and print stories on sporting and Festival Melbourne2006 cultural events, focusing on the Goodwill themes of humanity, equality and destiny.
The reporters are members of youth media clubs supported by Plan’s global youth media program ‘Hear My Voice’ and were selected by their peers to travel to Melbourne, from 9-28 March, as representatives of their clubs.
They will receive assistance in producing and editing their stories from professionals and Australian chaperones.
Among those in line for interviews with the youth reporters are members of Ghana, India and Pakistan’s Athletics, Hockey, Badminton and Rugby 7s teams.
Plan Goodwill Ambassadors will also face the reporter’s cameras, including Australian middle distance runner Craig Mottram, English 50m Freestyle swimmer Mark Foster and television celebrity Jamie Durie.
Artists, performers and cultural events to be covered include the Golden Pride Children’s Choir from Tanzania, Artplay, Daksha Sheth, Sing for Water, Pakistani Tram Artists and Worldly Things ‘Fantasy’ Coffins from Ghana.
Contributions to the ‘Hear My Voice’ youth programs will be on display at the Plan showcase at Interact @ Birrarung Marr.
