Schools, local councils and sporting groups invited to the Games

The Premier of Victoria, Mr Steve Bracks, has invited schools, local councils and sporting groups to the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games, with an exciting incentive of two free tickets when 20 group tickets or more are purchased.
“Attending as part of a group of colleagues or team mates will make the Games experience even more memorable,” Mr Bracks said.
The Group Ticket Offer Order Form has begun distribution, inviting Eligible Groups to purchase tickets. Supermarket chain Woolworths, Sponsor of the program, is offering the two free ticket incentive to group organisers as a goodwill gesture in the spirit of the Games.
The offer closes Friday 7 October 2005, so send in your form now and don't miss the moment.

Note that tickets to Aquatics (Diving, Swimming and Synchronised Swimming), Cycling, Gymnastics, Netball and Shooting are not available in the Group Ticket Offer.
On 15 July Mr Bracks also unveiled the next steps in the Ticketing program, including general public sales commencing 15 October. Tickets will then be available online, over the phone or at Ticketmaster outlets for individual purchase.
New ticket, flight and accommodation packages from Qantas Holidays and the Commonwealth Games Travel Office are also on offer from 15 July.
With just over eight months to go until the Opening Ceremony of the Games on 15 March, and following the running of the Ticket Ballot and subsequent Special Ticket Offer, a sports-mad public has purchased a total of 793,160 tickets of the 1.2 million public allocation of tickets.
Announcing the ballot and offer results, Games Chief Executive Officer, Mr John Harnden, said these figures demonstrated the enormous level of support for the Games across Australia, with strong demand across all sports.
Almost two-thirds of all seats available to the Australian public have been snapped up in the Ticket Ballot, making it the most successful Commonwealth Games ticketing ballot ever.
This is well in excess of the initial ticket take up at previous Commonwealth Games, and on par with the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
“After the completion of the Ticket Ballot and Special Ticket Offer, Athletics again tops the list as the most requested event,” Mr Harnden said.
The coach of the Australian Rugby 7s team, Mr Glenn Ella, was also on hand for the announcement at Telstra Dome, which will host the Commonwealth Games Rugby 7s tournament over the first two days of the Games on 16 and 17 March 2006.
“The atmosphere for the Rugby 7s final, to be played on the evening of St Patrick’s Day in 2006, will be truly electrifying,” Mr Ella said.
“The Australian team will be doing everything possible between now and next March to make sure we are part of that Gold Medal play-off.”
