Scotland the brave medal haul

After only four days of competition, Scotland have netted six gold medals equalling their 2002 gold medal tally from the Manchester Games, with four of these being won in the pool.

Keen to emphasise the focus his team has brought to Australia, swimmer David Carry - who won the second of his two gold medals on Sunday night - believes the Scots won't stop at six.

"I think we have a couple more (gold medals) to come as well," Carry said after his gold-medal performance in the 400m Individual Medley. "It's just been a great team atmosphere and great team effort. Everyone is just so happy to be here."

Carry said the results from the Scottish swim team at the end of Day 4 of competition (four gold and three silver) are not entirely surprising and have come as a result of the team competing at an international level. "We've shown it for so long now," he said. "I think that so much practice at a high level is now showing us we can produce against something like an Australian crowd."

Scotland started it's gold medal haul on the first night of competition when Caitlin McClatchey smashed the games record to win the Women's 200m Freestyle ahead of Australia's Libby Lenton and England's Melanie Marshall.

David Carry kept up Scotland's gold momentum of the night winning the Men's 400m Freestyle. Scotland's third gold was won on Saturday night by Gregor Tait in the Men's 200m Backstroke - also setting a new games record.

Scotland's other gold success has been at the velodrome where the team of Ross Edgar, Chris Hoy and Craig Maclean won the Men's Team Sprint in a gold medal ride off against Engalnd. In Shooting, Susan Jackson and Sheena Sharp took the highest honour in the Women's 50m Rifle Prone Pairs.
