Matt had an ideal preparation for the Commonwealth Games when he smashed six world records at the Australian Swimming Trials in January 2006.
He has broken more than 30 world records to become one of the top amputee swimmers in the world.
Disability: congenital amputation of the left arm just below the elbow.
In 2004, he was named the Joint Male Sportsperson of Year at the 11th Annual Stan Wickham Awards for Sportspeople with a Disability.
Matthew's long-term goal is to compete for Australia at the 2008 Paralympics. He also aspires to become a leading spokesperson to promote athletes with a disability in Australia and around the world. |
