Australia's Mathew Helm has denied Canadian Alexandre Despatie his third individual gold medal, winning the Men's 10m Platform Diving competition with a score of 1085.60.
Helm was in second place after the first dive, 16.9 points behind Despatie, but he did not trail for long, scoring a 92.80 on his next dive, an inward 3 1/2 somersault, to move into first place and lead for the remainder of the competition.
England's Peter Waterfield took silver,with a score of 1030.50, his first medal of the Games.
Despatie entered the Final in top spot, but scored a disappointing 40.25 on his second dive.
"I lost concentration in my second dive, but I was happy to get bronze. Of course I'm disappointed not to get the gold," Despatie said.
Robert Newbery of Australia finished in fourth, Matthew Mitcham was fifth, while 15-year old Bryan Nickson of Malaysia was sixth.
