Australia's Lisbeth Lenton wins her 200m Frestyle heat.

Scottish swimmer Caitlin McClatchey set the fastest time of 1:59:96 in the heats of the Women’s 200m Freestyle competition, laying down the gauntlet to the much-hyped Australian swimmers.
 

Australians Lisbeth Lenton and Linda Mackenzie, and Malaysian Ming Xiu Ong also won their respective heats.

 

English swimmers Joanne Marshall and Melanie Jackson, Australian Bronte Barratt and Canadian Sophie Simard recorded excellent times in their heats, while New Zealanders Lauren Boyle and Alison Fitch also swam well against tough competition.

 

Heat One recorded slower times for Malaysian Ming Xiu Ong, who held off Papua New Guinea’s Anna-Lisa Mopio Jane and Zambia’s Jaki Wellman.

 

The Finals will be held tonight.
