Badminton

Badminton has appeared at every Commonwealth Games since 1966, and the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Badminton competition will be one of the largest events on the International Badminton Federation (IBF) calendar.

A purpose-built temporary venue has been constructed within the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, which will host Badminton on all 11 days of competition, with six gold medals on offer in singles, doubles and a team event.

Singles and doubles events will involve a sudden death knockout draw, with the best players progressing through to medal matches, while the team event will commence with a round-robin competition.
