Australia's Brad Pitt celebrates
his win over Heavyweight favourite
England.
In a tight finish against Boxing Heavyweight favourite, England’s Danny Price, Australia’s Brad ‘Hollywood’ Pitt won his opening bout at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre.
In the opening rounds, Pitt out pointed his opponent, and looked ready to cruise to an easy victory.
However, the experienced Price drew the third round and won the last convincingly.
The judges and referee awarded the bout to Pitt 16 points to 12 allowing the heavyweight to progress to the next round. The English contingent was less than happy with the Judges’ scoring.
The 24 year old former house painter showed no sign of stage fright when he knew he’d be facing the the more experienced Englishman.
Pitt was inspired by his teammate Todd Kidd’s win in the Light Welterweight (64kg) division. Kidd used his home advantage to outwork southpaw Som Bahadur Pun of India winning 31-19.
