Squash hopefuls, including Dominica and the Cayman Islands, will face seeded heavyweights in first-round single's matches.

Malaysia's Nicol David, seeded number one in the women's competition, is favoured to retain her Commonwealth gold and enjoys a bye in the first round.

She may eventually face tough opposition from Australia's Grinham sisters, Rachael and Natalie - seeded two and three respectively. While Rachael has a first round bye, her sibling will take on Chantelle Day of the Cayman Islands.

The highest men's seed in action during round one is Canadian Graham Ryding, drawn against Karl Nassief of Dominica, while thirteenth seed Welshman Alex Gough meets Colin Alexander of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Matches will be played on the all-glass show court at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. The finals are scheduled for March 20.
