23
Mar

The top two seeds left in the Women's Singles draw were eliminated on Day 8 of competition in the Table Tennis, ahead of the Quarter Finals.
Jian Fang Lay of Australia was defeated by Mo Zhang of Canada. The seventeen-year-old Canadian took seven games to beat the fifth-ranked Lay and advance to the Quarter Finals.
Australia's Stephanie Sang caused a major boil-over when she beat eighth seeded Lee Wei Behof Malaysia, 4-1.
A more predictable Men's Singles saw the top six seeds advance to the Quarter Finals.
Singapore will definitely take home at least two medals in the Mixed Doubles with three of their Pairs through to the Semi Finals.
Australia's Russell Lavale and Miao Miao have also fought their way to a Semi Final berth after they defeated Nigeria's Segun Toriola and Olufunke Oshonaike. Lavale and Miao have bettered their Manchester result by two rounds so far and will be in strong contention for a medal in their Melbourne campaign.
The Women's EAD Qualifying Rounds were also completed, with the top two from each pool going through to the Quarter Finals.
