More than 675,000 tickets, of the 1,248,862 allocated to the public, were sold through the Ticket Ballot from 13 March-22 April 2005, resulting in the most successful ballot in Commonwealth Games history. The Special Ticket Offer, open to all people who applied for tickets in the ballot, provided a further opportunity to obtain tickets and was open 13-26 June 2005. More than 573,387 tickets were available for sale in the offer, with 117,685 more ticket requests fulfilled.
