Nick and his brother Steve were born on the same day, April 25th, 8 years apart and are the only brother combination in the history of New Zealand to have both broken 4:00 minutes for the mile.
In the Men's 1500m at the 2005 Golden League series in Paris, Nick broke John Walkers' 32 year old record.
When Nick was little, his sister Mieke would send him out to run laps of the block, pretending to time him, in order to burn off his excess energy.
